The name comes from Matryona, symbolising motherhood and family, while “Babushka” (grandmother) is the familiar nickname.

At Dolls In Dolls, we take great care to understand and verify the origins of every Matryoshka doll we offer. Every doll we stock represents traditional Russian craftsmanship:
