A playful corner of the store built for children and the young at heart: cartoon and fairytale babushkas, cute character sets, kids’ jewellery and music boxes. Like all our Matryoshka, they’re finished in non-toxic, eco-friendly materials — and nesting dolls have long been considered a child’s first puzzle, building fine motor skills and coordination through play. Cartoons & Tales Babushkas combine traditional Russian nesting-doll craftsmanship with characters and stories from popular Russian fairy tales, cartoons and children’s favourites.
Although the subjects may be playful, the underlying construction remains traditional. The dolls are Russian-made, hand-turned from timber, individually fitted and hand-painted by artists before being finished with protective lacquer.
