The timber is lime, linden, birch or alder, kiln-dried and hand-turned on a lathe, with each piece fitted uniquely to its matching half and nesting smallest first. Every set is then individually hand-painted and lacquered by a skilled artist, so natural variation in wood grain, colour and detail makes each babushka genuinely one of a kind. We take great care to verify the origin of every doll we stock — authentic Russian craftsmanship, not an imitation.
